Extreme Sliding

Here is some more of his monkeying around. This time at the playground doing some extreme sliding (while we waited for our car to be repaired). My little stuntman forwards, backwards and upright:

 Lovin' that hair, bubba!

Water fun

So, we have visited quite a few "water parks" in the area (i.e. playgrounds with sprinklers), and we think that this one, by far, is the best one. Liam loves the blue umbrella and the yellow buckets that fill and spill. There are plenty of benches, a huge grassy field with lots of sun and nice shady spots (for a picnic lunch), a separate playground (not as nice with the wood chips on the ground), and a beautifully manicured garden. They have a huge library across the street. Sometimes we visit there first and then the water park as the reward. And we don't have to chase the Mister Softee truck because he's always there! It's not exactly close to where we live. It's a bit of a drive, maybe 15 minutes, but it's so worth it.

The Curl and more playground fun

Liam is crazy about this "curl" at the playground. Ever since he mastered it, he can't get enough of it. It is located at a super big playground in our favorite park about a 10 minute drive from where we live.

Like I said before, if it were up to him we would be going there every single day, basically just to ride this thing.

Love that hair!

Ride 'em!

Taking lunch orders...

... so long as it does not include carbonated drinks, and "hot cheese" because it's "not healthy"

This is how we're keeping cool!
(Same day, different playground)

Yes, he does have a right leg.

My brave little boy! (Water was super cold!)

Another day, another playground.
This time closer to Welita's house.

More lunch orders!

So crazy about this kid!

Spring fun

Well, Spring has finally sprung and that means more afternoons at our favorite playground. We like this particular playground because of its proximity to the shore. It's nice and spacious and the views of the bay are fantastic. When it's Fleet Week here in NYC, you get to see the naval ships go by blowing their horns in salute to our wonderful city. And the afternoon breezes in the summer are just the best!

One afternoon we ran into some dear friends while at this playground. While Liam always manages to have a blast at the playground, he would tell you that there's nothing better than going down the slide together with a couple of your best buddies.

Soaking up the sun...

This summer is just flying by so fast!

We take Liam's tricycle out every single day around our neighborhood at least twice a day; mid-morning, after nap time, and sometimes when daddy comes home in the early evening while there is still light outside. Riding along in Liam's vintage-looking trike has afforded us to catch some rays and much needed Vitamin D! Taking Liam to the playground has also been a great time to get some sun exposure. While Liam is in constant movement, he has more or less gotten some even coloring around his legs and arms. I have mostly been hit on the arms and face as I have stood by watching him run around like a mad man. With sun-kissed faces, necks, arms and legs, we are starting to sport a pretty good "farmer's tan". I sure wish he would take a little more interest in the sprinklers on those super hot days as mama would love the opportunity to at least get her feet wet. Oh well, gotta soak up the sun as much as we can!

At the blink of an eye, summer will be over.

Talk about fast, here are Liam's wheels now and later, or so we hope...

Here is our little man wearing his "swimming costume" as they say in Aussieland. Grandma Bette got it for him while we were in Australia back in December 08. Wouldn't you know it, he completely ignored the sprinklers and ran towards the playground.

He is such an old pro at the slide.

There is a video clip here that actually shows him coming down this very same slide. He can be seen here at 1:05. It is entirely of his friend Garrett, but Liam sneaked in a little bit of screen time (I think I did, too). So, why didn't I get a video of my own, you say? C'mon. You know that Liam is way too fast now. While I stand around to figure out how to change the settings on my camera, he has already moved on to something new. I will figure it out one of these days though and I will catch him in the act!

Here he is with his friend Lani who lives in our building.

Liam is growing up so fast right before our very eyes!
